Kyra Johnson is a complicated woman.

To most, she seems calm, cool.. Collected. Sure of herself. Even a bit cocky when it really comes down to it. She oozes confidence, and she makes sure those around her know that she’s got everything it takes to do whatever it is that she needs to do.

But underneath that brazen exterior?

Underneath all the bravado and the desperate attempts to overcompensate for everything lies a woman who honestly doesn’t understand why she’s in the position that she’s in right now.

She doesn’t understand why she’s still employed with the same company that she once owned, by a man who hates her very existence. She doesn’t get why.. Or rather how she’s a champion in said promotion… Since she’s only won one other belt in her career and that one was because the owner of the promotion had a ‘thing’ for her. She doesn’t understand why a man like Jack Michaels adores her the way that he does, nor does she get why he even wants to marry her in the first place.

In her own mind, she’s tainted goods.

She’s no good for anyone.

People like Melody Lennox see right through her, right down into the hidden insecurities that she tries so hard to disguise. People like Melody Lennox know people like Kyra Johnson, not because they want to, but because they take no greater pleasure than shitting all over the hopes and aspirations of people like Kyra. People who work and work and work just like everyone else, yet can’t seem to catch a break. People who don’t believe in themselves as much as others do. People who see themselves as weak and unworthy.

People like Melody prey on that.

And that’s why Kyra Johnson has yet to beat Melody Lennox in their respective careers.

All the pressure is on Kyra now. Will she drop to 0-4 against Lennox, or will she finally go 1-3? It’s up to her. Can she find it within her to stop being Melody’s doormat? Can she find it within herself to finally do what everyone who loves her already knows that she can?

Will Melody do to Kyra what she couldn’t do to Jack? Will she break her and leave her defeated and alone? Will she take those tag championships that she holds so dear and use them to further her own narcissistic and selfish ambitions?

Or will Kyra prove her detractors, the biggest one being herself, wrong?

The balls in her court now.

Act of Defiance came and passed. For Kyra, she was just glad that she didn’t have to go out in the snow and freezing rain to defend the tag titles. And.. she was glad that Eli brought home the Ultraviolent Championship and that Jack had retained the World Title against Will Prydor. Although it was sad to watch Will go.

It frustrated her though, watching Bridges get everything he wanted… Well most everything. Jack still has the world title, and Paragon has nearly every belt, which surely pains his very existence.

“I was thinking of having the wedding right here in Vegas.”

She heard Jack say something, but her mind was riddled with thoughts, none of them pertaining to the wedding that she and Jack are supposed to be planning. She shrugged her shoulders in response, glancing out the window. Sure, Bridges doesn’t have everything he wants.. But in this little game of chess that he’s playing with Paragon, he may have just hit his checkmate.

Putting Melody and her little partner up against Kyra and TJ for those tag titles… Knowing that Kyra has never bested Melody in competition… To Bridges that might be just as good as a sure thing. And Kyra, it wouldn’t be too farfetched to believe that in this case, she might actually agree with Jason Bridges on something.

If Melody can’t beat Jack.. Then why not send her after his fiance. Why not send her after the weakest link in Paragon and fray the cloth at its edges?

“What do you think, Kyra?”

She turns her head to Jack and nods her head.

“I’m fine with that.”

“Did you even hear what I was saying, Baby Doll?”

She shrugs her shoulders again and sighs.

“Not really… I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright. I was just saying, what if we had the wedding in Vegas?”

She listens to his words but it was clear to Jack that her mind was still elsewhere. He reaches his arm over the table and rests his hand on Kyras.

“What’s wrong?”

Kyra shakes her head and smiles.

“Oh, nothing. Nothing.”

For a moment, Jack nods his head and leans back in his chair, but when he sees the smile immediately fall from his fiance’s face, he sighs and gets up from the chair, rounding the table to where Kyra is sitting and pulls her up to her feet.

“Baby Doll…”

She grits her teeth and looks up into his eyes, the annoyance there is obvious.

Nothing is wrong, Jack.”

She pulls away and walks towards the living room.

How could she tell him that she’s doubting herself? How, after he has gone and accomplished everything that he’s put his mind to and she’s.. Well she’s just lost over and over again. Sure she and TJ won the tag titles.. A wonderful moment in her career, that’s for sure. But she couldn’t pull the trigger in the Monarchy of Anarchy tournament against the woman who Eli ended up beating. She has never been able to conquer the mountain that is Melody Lennox.. What makes this time any different?

This time Melody will take more than just her confidence and her pride.

This time Melody will take something from not just Kyra, but from TJ and the rest of Paragon.

How could she tell Jack any of this? He’d just think it ridiculous, at least that’s what she thinks. He doesn’t think she can do anything wrong. He doesn’t think she’s a loser. Well, she knows she is.. And she knows she’s going to let everyone, most importantly him, down.

“Kyra.. come on.”

Jack says, following her into the living room. Kyra whips around and throws her arms up into the air, laughing whilst her eyes fill up with tears.

“You wouldn’t understand Jack. You honestly wouldn’t. I mean, look at you. Big man.. World champion… On top of the fucking world, right?. How the fuck could you understand?”

His eyebrows raise in surprise at Kyra’s outburst.

“What are you talking about?”

Kyra scoffs and laughs again.

“Tell me, hun.. How’s it feel to actually go out there and beat someone whom you’ve wanted nothing more than to beat?”

“Are you talking about–”

“Melody? Yeah. You’re damn right I’m talking about Melody. How’s it feel to actually beat her, Jack?”

For a moment, Jack’s at a loss for words as he stares across the room at Kyra.

“I..”

She nods her head as she paces around the room, wringing her hands out.

“Indescribable, right? Bet it felt really fucking great, Jack…”

Jack opens his mouth to say something else, but closes it for a few moments, closing his eyes as well. Kyra stops her pacing to stare at him, clenching her jaw as he finally reopens his eyes and sighs softly, putting his hands up.

“I’m sorry..”

He finally replies, almost defeated as he turns to walk away. For a few moments, Kyra seems content to just let him go, even going as far as turning away and moving towards a window.

Jack…”

She says softly, turning around to see Jack stopped in the doorway. He turns around slowly, a slight frown on his lips.

Kyra moved slowly towards him, raking her hands through her hair.

“I-I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that.”

She pulls her hands down in front of her, taking a quick glance at that engagement ring on her left hand, feeling even worse as she does.

“You didn’t deserve it. It’s just.. I honestly don’t think I can do this.”

Jack’s eyebrows raise again, as Kyra looks up into his eyes.

“I can’t beat her. I never have. No matter how much I’ve tried. No matter how much I prepared…”

“Oh, Baby Doll.. that’s ridiculous.”

Kyra throws her arms up into the air again and shakes her head.

“I knew you’d say that.. It’s not ridiculous, Jack. Maybe to you, someone who’s beaten Melody Lennox. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you beat her, I’m glad you got that belt from her but God damnit.. In that moment I couldn’t help but think about what a fucking loser I am.”

Jack shakes his own head as he moves back into the room.

“You’re not a loser, not even close. You and TJ have those tag titles and–”

“And what? If not for TJ, I’d of probably lost that match too.”

Jack’s taken back a bit by Kyra’s attitude and he can’t disguise it on his face as he allows a tense silence to settle between he and Kyra. But after a few moments, Kyra turns away again and continues.

“Lost my debut in Uncensored to her. Lost the number one contendership to JD’s banned Championship in Uncensored.. A year ago now, lost the number one contendership to the Carnage World title to her.”

She turns back towards Jack, a single tear rolling down her cheek.

“I don’t wanna lose the tag titles to her too. TJ’s a good kid. He doesn’t deserve to be weighed down by having me as a partner. I can’t beat her. She’s always had my number and I can’t–”

“Okay, that’s enough, Baby Doll.”

Finally Jack speaks, his tone stern but calm.

“There’s a lot of pressure with this match, I understand. But one thing you’ve got on Melody is heart. I’ve never seen anyone fight for anything as hard as I’ve seen you fight for everything.”

“A lot of good it does me.”

“That’s not the point. You look inside the chest of Lennox and all you’re going to find is an empty hole where a heart used to be. Just because you haven’t beaten her yet, doesn’t mean you won’t this time. Besides, it’s not just her.”

Kyra nods her head as he talks, the defeat on her face unchanging as he continues.

“Forget about what’s happened between the two of you in the past. Focus on now, focus on who you are now, and how much you’ve accomplished. You’re not the same woman you were back then. Where you’ve grown, she’s reverted into a child. A spoiled brat who thinks she’s owed whatever she wants.”

Kyra looks down at her feet as Jack walks up in front of her, placing his finger softly under her chin and raising her face up to look at him. He smiles.

“You’re going to do great and you’re going to show that… brat that she doesn’t always get what she.. Or what Bridges wants her to have.”

He kisses her on the forehead before he turns and leaves the room. Kyra stands there for a few moments before nodding her head and following him from the room.

I wish I believed in me as much as you do, Jack…

I’m not good enough.

I never was.

At least that’s what you’re going to say, right Melody? I mean, that’s exactly what you said last year when you and I did a dance very similar to this, except we were fighting for the number one contendership to what you called ‘YOUR championship’.

Seems like that’s JACK’S Championship now, huh?

But anyway, that’s not the point. Just wanted to remind you that you’re not on top anymore. Did it work?

Regardless, this isn’t about the world championship, where I know your aspirations lie. Nope. You and your little lap dog are coming for TJ and I for these Tag Titles. Couldn’t beat Jack, so I guess you’re going for the next best thing, right? Or did Jason throw you into this match in a desperate attempt to thrust you back out of that irrelevancy that you’ve somehow fallen into?

How dare I, right? How dare I insult the great Melody Lennox. The only person capable of catapulting Carnage Wrestling into greatness. The only woman who truly deserves to hold that Carnage World Championship… or any of it’s championships for that matter.

Right.

But still, how can someone that’s never beaten you spew such bullshit, right? Oh, I don’t know Melody. It doesn’t take beating you to realize what a pile of dog shit you are.

Let’s face facts here, Melody. Whether you give a fuck or not, you’re a heartless piece of garbage and that’s why you’re where you’re at right now. Sure, you can argue that that same bitch is the one who was just Carnage World champ just a few months ago, and she’s the same one who held the world title multiple times over her time in Carnage… But shit gets old, Melody.

Bridges thinks you’re his money maker. He thinks you’re the answer to all his woes. And maybe you were for a time. I don’t know. I can’t claim to understand what goes through our leaders head when it comes to you. But now? We all see it and you’re just too damn blind to realize it. You’re done. You’re old news, sweetie.

I’d go as far to say that the moment that the strong, defiant bitch known as Melody Lennox turned into the bratty crybaby who decided that she couldn’t fight her own fights and got herself a bodyguard.. That’s the moment that you became irrelevant.

People don’t want to pay money to watch you cower behind Daniel Richards. People wanna pay money to watch you get your ass handed to you all on your own. And you denied them of that. And that’s where you and I differ, Melody. I get in there and I take my beatings, and whether I win or I lose… I live with that fact and I move the fuck on with my life.

Because I’ve got heart. I’ve got pride. And I’ve got far more balls than you do, sweetie.

But it’s not just you that’s going to be coming for these tag titles, right? Nope, you’ve got your trusty bodyguard by your side. He sure helped you at Act of Defiance, huh?

Nothing against you, Daniel. But come on, are you that fucking desperate that you think playing lap dog to that bitch is going to elevate you in the slightest? Instead of looking like the big, strong dude that I’m sure you really are – instead you look like a little bitch. Melody Lennox’s bitch. It’s not a good look on you honey.

But let me get another thing out in the open right here and now, you’re not doing a very good job of protecting the little princess when she’s the one getting pinned and beaten in tag matches with Trent and Calvin, right?

I don’t know, Daniel.

It seems to me like you’re just there to be Melody’s fall boy. At least in circumstances like this. Both of you in there, fighting TJ and I.. If someone is going to get pinned by us.. Do you think Melody is going to be the one to take that pin and that ‘L’? Hell fucking no. It’s going to be you. And she’s going to blame you for it.

TJ and I didn’t work our asses off to lose these belts to two people who probably give less than two shits about them. We didn’t work this hard to lose them to people who don’t value them as much as we do… People who’d rather be trying to ruin Jack Michaels life and title reign, but they’re relegated to the tag division for an undetermined amount of time.

No. TJ and I.. Paragon hold these tag titles and we aren’t letting them go. I don’t give one fuck what you say, Melody or what you agree with, Daniel… It’s not happening. Not on my watch.

You may be up 3-0 on me now Melody.. But that ends at Chaos 69.

I am good enough.

I always was… Bitch.
